WHO IS JCL ANYWAY? Justin
Cameron Lamont. Think of me as your source for
something as simple as an exciting new business card or as detailed as
a thorough review and execution of your current or new graphic
identity, promotional materials, website and marketing efforts.
Background
I was raised in Manhattan, New York, by parents who ran their
own marketing communications firm, R. A. Danzig, Inc. They always
encouraged my artistic and creative growth and expression, even if
through clenched teeth when it got messy (I'm still not allowed to buy
black poster paint!).
I officially began my career in marketing as a Marketing Associate with
Chase Manhattan Investment Services. From there I was given the
opportunity to become Communications and Media Relations Manager at
Société Générale's SoGen Funds division. On the division's sale to
First Eagle, I moved to The Abernathy Group as Corporate Communications
Manager, a biotech and information technology hedge fund. The next step
in my employment experience was as Brand Marketing Manager for Merrill
Lynch's Wealth Management Group (client), working for
Burson-Marsteller, one of the world's largest public relations firms.
Education
To supplement the training I got at my parents' drafting tables and
through my many years of corporate experience, I have studied graphic
design, interior design, web design, marketing and color theory at
several schools including New York's School of Visual Arts and the
Fashion Institute of Technology. My higher education began at the Bronx
High School of Science and the University of Pennsylvania and ended
studying for my MBA in Marketing from New York University's Stern
School of Business.
Whew! All this parental and formal education was equaled in value to
the lessons in business, design and life that I learned observing and
transcribing directions for my grandmother, Annette Feldman, as she
designed and created projects for whichever book she was writing at the
time, including Knit, Purl and Design!, Beginner's Needlecraft,
Handmade Lace and Patterns and eight more instructional needlecraft
books. Her inspirational spirit prompted her to dedicate The Hat Book
to my "design expertise". Granted, I was young and she was
excessively enthusiastic. But hunt down a copy, look for the the
trimmed baseball cap and judge for yourself. :-)
